Playing life by ear.

Not just the olives.

People turn up at the oil mill in tractors, trucks, cars, unload their olives into bins and wait............ for  2 hours or more  to complete the whole process, depending on how many olives you have.
In the extra shot you can see the waiting scene, steel bins ready to collect the precious gold liquid. It never ceases to amaze me just how people do not lose sight of their olives from the time they are uploaded into the machinery that crushes then churns and mysteriously separates the gunge for the oil and all the time they are looking at other people's olives and doing calculations ans guess work to figure out how much oil they are going to get from each batch of 100kg. The greener the olives, the less oil and the better the quality. It doesn't matter who you are and where you  come from, we all have one thing in common,  we all know how much hard work it took to collect our olives. My good neighbour and his wife did the job for us and just for the record, the cost of picking and crushing ended up costing almost foru euros per liter but now we have 175 litres of top quality organic olive oil which will be more than enough for our extended family for the next year.

On the way home at 11pm, we stopped off at the hospital where about 30 staples were removed from my upper leg/hip. I was so glad to be rid of them, I feel I'm on the home stretch now.

Last week Alessandro the titch told his parents that he had fallen off his chair and fainted at scool. Quite a panic ensued but the following day, it was discovered that this little clown had been rocking on  his chair, had fallen off, all the kids laughed at him so he invented the little passing out story.

On Saturday Alessandro had a Karate competition in which he scored good points and recieved a flashy medal for first prize. It was his first taste of success and I hope it will encourage him to stay with Karate , unlike his big brother who gave it up for football. On the way out, the wheel fell of the wheelchair I was sitting in that we'd hired it for two weeks. Ha Ha Ha. I didn't fall out because Mr. S. saved me.

On Sunday I spent a few hours sitting in the sun while Mr. S went for a short sail. It was such a beautiful day and he deserved it.

Monday was Max's 5th birthday so we made brief visit just to give hom a little present. Big sister V, who is just 10 was as quiet nand shy as usual and it occurred to me that we could play the add three words game that used to be available on blip, in the good old days. We tried it out and it was such fun that I'm figuring a way to make it a regular habit.

I'm feeling a bit brighter today (12th Nov) so I hope to spend more time with blip.

xxx to all
