Thank you for your service

Today, I walked around the various monuments in D.C. where commemorations were taking place. I decided I wanted to take mainly close in shots of the vets and get just a bit of their story.

So here is William, who served in Korea and then Vietnam, where he was tasked with heavy ordnance recovery as a master sergeant. He still stood ramrod straight and had a dignity and elegance that just stood out. If you follow the link to the rest of the pix, you'll see what I mean when you see him with the rest of his war buddies.

There were many touching stories, esp among the WW2 vets -- the few that remain. Here are the rest of the pix with a little bit of a caption for each person.

On a more somber note: today is the anniversary of my brother's suicide. Still missing you every day, Philippe.
