Up and down the country this will be a common picture subject today.

We are very close to the sea here in Ramsey.  The start and finish  of the two minutes silence is marked by the nearby  Coastguard station  setting off a maroon.  There was a thunderous crash which certainly imposed silence.

As we allowed are thoughts to dwell on those that went before us, the only sound was a chorus of seagulls
