We Are Not In Kansas Anymore
We began our two day trip to Puerto Vallarta this morning. After six hours of twisty-turnny driving up Mexico 200, we arrived in Manzanillo, a port city of 100,000 or so in the state of Colima. Manzanillo is well known as the location of the resort Las Hadas, which was prominently featured in the movie "10", and more recently as the reference point for the landfall of Hurricane Patricia (which came ashore just north of the city). Even though it is a beach community, it is radically different than our quaint town. Take for example the restaurant in which we dined this evening. The design (shown here), the ambiance (cool & professional), the food (unique fusion of Mexican & Oriental), the entire experience were unlike anything we have access to back home where almost all the restaurants are open air and serve similar dishes. Of course, tomorrow we arrive in Puerto Vallarta, which is yet another level when it comes to dining.
