Bookslide, and after

When I attempted to decimate the book ranks, the volumes fought back and cascaded en masse  on to my head as I wrestled with the bottom shelf. I saw stars for a moment and wondered how long it might be before I was discovered in my tomb of tomes. But remembering the injunction always to get straight back on the horse that throws you, I tackled the shelves again and got most of them re-stacked (left hand image.) Unfortunately the wood has warped and shrunk and the  little metal brackets that slot into the side strips can barely reach to take the weight.

 Emily Dickinson said,

There is no Frigate like a Book
To take us Lands away
Nor any Coursers like a Page
Of prancing Poetry –
This Traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of Toll –
How frugal is the Chariot
That bears the Human Soul –
