Novmeber????

Sunny and warm again today. Some years we have been skiing in the middle of November. This weather is quite a treat, even if it isn't "normal". I didn't really enjoy skiing.

We put on our walking shoes again today, got on the train and rode to Icking, south of Munich. From the station we continued down to the Isar, a nice downhill walk. From there I thought we would stay down until we reached the next train station at Wolfratshausen. However, this was not the case. After strolling a short distance along the bank of the Isar, we were confronted with roughly hewn stairs up the steep river bank. In my little handbook describing walks you can take along the city train lines, this was described as an inoucuous walk suitable for small children and in all seasons. Hmmpf - I don't agree.

So far I/we have done seven of the 50 walks in the book. When I have completed ten I plan to give myself a "boot" (like cameras here), 20 will be two boots etc. A propos boots, we got ourselves decent hikig boots. What a differencet that makes.

I seem to be rambling a bit, but to put it in a nutshell, I am feeling very satisfied with our walks and the feeling that I am already in better shape than I was on our first walk.

In the extras a shot of the Isar and again the Alps in the background.
