Pink pineapple

Something you wouldn't really expect to be flowering in Scotland in November is this pink beauty, Ochagavia carnea, from Chile, a member of the pineapple family, Bromeliaceae.

Seems hardy enough and is never damaged at Arduaine. Watch those spines though!

I've just clicked on my own tag to see if anyone else has posted an Ochagavia and to my surprise, somebody had! It's a lovely little town in NE Spain not far from the French Border!
