X marks the spot.  Or rather, X marks (one of) the rotten boards.

J started the sanding today with help from M.  Progress will be rapid, I'm sure.  

According to my records, the last time the main part of the house was painted was 1999*.  That's almost twenty years!  Given that the paint manufacturers figure a house will need painting maybe every 12-15 years I think mine has done remarkably well.  Quite surprising in fact, just how good order a lot of the paint is in.  Much better, it would seem, than some of the boards.
