Bristolwood and Beyond

Let's Play Hide and Seek!

Late this morning, I was outside working. I listened attentively as I heard what I thought was a Robin's song. Shortly thereafter, I saw a bird fly up and perch on a small tree not too far away from me.

Robins are not typically woodland birds. They are more frequently found in cities and fields. But this spring, we had a Robin build a wonderful nest in one of our trees in front of the house. I had taken a photo of the mama sitting on her nest, but a couple of days later, she was gone, as were the two pretty eggs she had been sitting on.

I get infuriated thinking about the "what happened's"......although we have leash laws for dogs, cats are free to wander about wherever they please. I have caught cats wandering around near our house and it doesn't make me too happy. I don't mind cleaning up after Murphy, but am not at all happy to find that kitties have been digging in my garden....

I saw one cat around the house around the time the Robin built her nest and it has not been back in a long time. Cannot help but wonder.....

Well, anyway, we do have a pretty Robin who just wanted me to find him/her this morning. Of course, with that bright red breast, hmmm....should I tell the bird it makes it a bit hard to hide?

I was going to crop the photo to feature my little friend, but in the end, I just loved the green "border"! I was discouraged by the sliver of bark hanging down from a branch that had broken off, but then as I looked, it really did look like the Robin thought it was hidden from me!
