355th Fighter Group Memorial

I knew there had been an airfield here abouts but stumbled on this memorial, which, sadly, had alot of names on it. There was also a map of the airfield as it was when active - it was HUGE.

I used to fly from Bassingbourn, which is only abour 2 miles away and I never realised how big Steeple Morden airfield used to be. I now fly from Old Warden, a grass airfield, which has it's own delights!

Must do some more research and find out what other aircraft flew from there, as well as the P47 Thunderbolt and the P51 Mustang depicted on the memorial.
