One last Newie Huzzah!
Up before the cockerel again this morning, the three stooges headed down to Newcastle Baths and the Canoe Pool to watch one last sunrise over the Pacific. Before long it was time to head back to Jen's for breakfast and start packing. The car was returned to Avis with a full tank and the girls did a little shopping (me too - finally succumbed to buying a pair of flip flops - last of the big spenders) before Gitama and I said our goodbyes to Jen at the station (eat yer heart out Celia Johnson and Trevor Howard).
Thanks so much Jen for putting us up (and putting up with us). ;-) It was lovely catching up. Hugs to you and Hamish. Hope he managed to have a mad dash on the beach somewhere to make up for all the messing about with his routine.
A few hours later, G and I were in Sydney. It was a toss up between Circular Quay and Darling Harbour for a wee wander before dinner. We plumped for the latter but alas discovered a building site upon our arrival. A new conference centre and outdoor space is being created so gone are the lovely open spaces and water features I saw on my last visit. Such a shame but I'm sure the new space will be lovely too when completed. Can't help but think that the new buildings will make it feel a little more enclosed but there you go. We consoled ourselves with a gorgeous Korean BBQ consisting of table side cooked meats and a selection of vegetable accompaniments, dips and rice. All for $34 (around £15) for the pair of us. Bargain and super tasty to boot!
Just getting ready to hit the hay. Another early-ish start in the morning to catch our flights to Tassy and the next stage of our adventures.
