Mono Monday Money
Ok, so it is time I caught up on goings on on Blip! I realise that Mono Monday is still going and today's theme is MONEY, based on a Pink Floyd song with the same title.
I thought up all sorts of creative things actually involving money, however, since I was made redundant in February 2014, I haven't had much in the way of money.
The way to survive in the wonderful part of the world I live in, without having to move to take a job elsewhere, has triggered me into an incredible path to self sufficiency. I have a few small jobs teaching yoga and gardening so I had to vastly reduce my outgoings.
I have created a fruit and vegetable garden and I keep hens. All organic. I sell the surplus veg and eggs and from that MONEY I can buy the things I do not grow, like coffee and rice. It has been incredibly satisfying to go back to basics and try live of half an acre of land. It has been done by crofters and market gardeners in the past, so why not by me?
I am creating a medicinal plant growing area now as well, with the aim to produce herbal remedies and sell them and I am about to go out to plant willow coppicing, for baskets, hurdles and fire wood. I shall also be planting hazel, alder and sycamore again to use for tools etc as well as fire wood. Any products made from the coppiced wood shall again be converted into money, so I can keep paying the mortgage. Eventually, I will have paid off the mortgage and shall be living 100% off the land with very little cash economy.
So here you have it: these lovely hen's eggs from my extremely happy hens represent £1,50...
