Ted and Audrey....
We had an excellent Remembrance service this morning. I think it's ok to say that.
We heard things we just didn't know about several of our congregation, things they keep quiet about but never forget. Ted here, known to most of us as the gas metre reading man then turned gardener, was in the Scots Guards and served in Syria as a young soldier. Later during the war he was a guard at the Tower of London and wore the wonderful red uniform and black bearskin. He is named after his uncle who was killed in the First World War and rarely talked about by his mother in her grief and loss. Only very recently did Ted learn, his uncle was killed at only 16 years of age. Audrey read a poem so beautifully during the service.
My other photo is Frank, 90 next year, sporting his medals. Again, reluctant to say how he came to have them, but again, served in Syria and Israel.
Lots to think about and be grateful for today.
