Gone with the wind!

What a day!

We decided to go home via Anglesey, as neither of us had been before and we'd been recommended to visit the South Stacks lighthouse.

It was blowing an absolute hooley when we got there, so much so, it was an effort to get out of the car due to the wind forcing the door shut again!

Mr A was keen to go down to the lighthouse, but we only reached the first set of steps and I wimped out; I really didn't feel safe as the wind was so strong, I could feel the skin on my face rippling and in parts it was almost impossible to walk forwards.
Given that there were 400+ steps down to the lighthouse (which was closed to the public anyway) and we'd have to climb back up them afterwards, I feel justified in saying no way was I doing it.

My blip comes from this part of our day.

From there, we went to Aber Falls, which was recommended to us by a lady at Swallow Falls yesterday.
Foolishly, we didn't google it beforehand (other than to get directions), so we kind of expected it to be similar to yesterday in terms of parking up and it being right there.

How wrong were we?! It was a good 4km, which doesn't sound much but it was all uphill, in torrential rain and gale force winds. Not my idea of fun! Although, as I'm typing this and I'm toasty warm, I'm glad we did it.
The falls weren't as impressive as yesterday's; higher but not as 'wow'.

By the time we got back to the car, we were soaked to the skin. Luckily, there was a little information centre with toilets next to where we'd parked, so we went in there to get changed into dry clothes. That felt sooooooo good!

We had planned to stop off for lunch in Llandudno, but the walk took longer than expected so we ended up driving home with a stop off in Conwy for pub grub.

The weekend (as always) has flown, but we've had a lovely time, despite the weather.
Looking forward to our own bed tonight though :-)
