Order in the Court!
This is a bit of the beautiful sculpted stone work on the 'Citation Taverne & Restaurant' building in Glasgow's Merchant City.
The building was erected to house the City's County Buildings in 1844 and extended all the way back from Wilson Street to Ingram Street later in the century. Upon completion of the City Chambers in George Square in 1888 it became home to the Glasgow Sheriff Court and did so for the next 100 years or so.
After the closure and re-siting of the Glasgow Sheriff Court across the river in 1986 the site lay derelict for many years before being transformed into its current use today. The building now houses a mix of residential and commercial properties and also houses the Scottish Youth Theatre and one of the city's finest eateries.
