Edinburgh
We eventually arrived in Edinburgh after a strange journey. The virgin train left Inverness on time but jerked and crawled along for the next hour. Very weird. The Guard came on the tannoy saying it was 'because of the Scottish Weather, the tracks were wet ! ' Pretty sure it rains everywhere not just Scotland ! Still having trouble and the next announcement told us that the train should build up momentum as it goes down hill and we should go faster , amazing . We did go faster and arrived about 30 minutes late.
It was a rather wet start so we went out for dinner and enjoyed in meal in the 'Conan Doyle pub close to where he was born.
We then walked across the road to the Cinema and watched the new James Bond Film Spectre. Which was good but I prefered Skyfall.
We then grabbed a cab to the Kings Theatre to see Handbagged a great comedy about the Queen and Margaret Thatcher. It probably does nt sound like it would be that funny but it was and very cleverly done, very enjoyable.
This is the ceiling that we sat under which has recently been created by John Byrne. It took 5 painters, 10 hours a day for 5 weeks. It also had a cooling system installed.
Back to the hotel by bus and now going to bed, night, night
