Forth Replacement Crossing Exhibition Centre
Following the excellent talk by John Brown to our U3A Geology group last Thursday, which Mr Flum was not able to attend, we visited the Forth Replacement Crossing exhibition centre (open on Saturdays only, 10-4). (The link will provide all the details you thought you would never need, and in an academic manner. Feel free to search for a more readable version).
The large expanse of plate glass provides a viewpoint over the construction - that is, when the weather is clear. Today, as was forecast, the rain was pouring down, the top of the three towers periodically shrouded in cloud, and an atmosphere of uniform grey pervaded the scene. However, the displays are most interesting, the guides cheerfully informative and the building warm and dry! We learned that the project is on target for opening in 2016 and under budget.
My photo was timed to catch the tanker passing between two towers, to give a sense of scale.
