Red barge at Saint Mammes

A misty start eventually gave way to a beautiful sunny day, unusually warm for the time of year. We had a lazy morning, about an hour of it Skyping with Laura, then after lunch got out to enjoy the sunshine. Whilst looking at Google maps the other day, I came across a new place to walk, a nature reserve by the river in Champagne sur Seine, Les Basses Godernes. I was thinking it would be a good place for birds, but in that respect we were disappointed, but it was still a nice walk, and we continued out of the reserve along the river to Saint Mammes, where we crossed the road bridge and walked on the other side for a while, where my blip was taken. In the background you can see the Romanesque church of Saint Mammes, dating back to the XIth century. The painter, Alfred Sisley, lived in nearby Moret sur Loing, and painted many scenes of Saint Mammes. By this time, the sun was beginning to go down, so we decided we should turn back.
