The Man Who Invented The Umbrella
I know it will be easy to find out
who invented the umbrella.
I might google it.
But not yet, not yet.
I’d rather imagine the man
(I suppose it is going to be a feller)
who came up with a plan
to save us from getting soaked.
For some reason I’m thinking
that he might be German?
It will be more appropriate
if he’s British. Given
that the weather is often
a topic of conversation
here, that would make sense.
Anyway, whichever nation
he belonged to, I bet
he had a neat moustache,
wore a hat, spoke in clipped tones,
and was fed up with getting wet.
When it rains
