Black Witchery Inferno of Sacred Destruction
Black Witchery 'Inferno of Sacred Destruction' (Osmose Productions, 2010)
Ha ha, not for the first time I listened to LP opener 'Holocaustic Church Devastation' at the wrong speed. There is something so inherently amiss with Black Witchery that they actually sound quite good at the incorrect speed. However, after a minute or so I realised that, even though it was still faster than 90% of music out there, it just wasn't fast enough.
Bestial, brutal, intense, face ripping insanity is delivered with relentless punishing rage. The artwork is wonderfully childish with goat demons decapitating jesus at every turn. The lyrics are blasphemies piled upon blasphemies which are cartoonish in their unforgiving attack upon the christian faith. The members are called 'Impurath', 'Vaz' (not that evil admittedly, unless you find Keith Vaz to be the embodiment of Lucifer walking the Earth) and 'Tregenda' (which is a bit too much like Treg for my liking). The songs are called 'Antichrist Order of Holy Death' and 'Ascension of the Obscure Moon' and the band like having their photos taken at night in graveyards in front of flaming monuments. This is quite simply brilliant.
Four words my friends; ROSS BAY CULT ETERNAL!
Peace
