Little Bluestem

Little Bluestem is one of my favorite Kansas native grasses. At this time of year the red stems and fluffy seeds are unmistakable. I have some in my own garden, where I enjoy them all the way from fall to spring. This clump though is right outside my local REI store. I'm a fan of REI, though I do find it disappointing that they don't allow dogs (apart from service dogs) inside their store. My dog is very used to going places with me and I take her into any store that will allow her. She has very good manners, on the whole, though while I was taking this photo she decided that she should be yanking on her leash and exploring all the little critter trails.
