Spider's World Wide Web
I play bowls most Wednesdays at CERN, which is where the basics of the World Wide Web were first developed.
Our HQ is an old wooden hut, originally scheduled for demolition in 1988, but still going, albeit not exactly strong. Being an old hut it has more than its fair share of spiders, and when having our mid-morning coffee we heard a sudden frantic buzzing. A very large fly caught in a web was being attacked by an equally large spider, which immediately started to trap it and wrap it by spinning it round and round and encasing it in web filament.
The picture shows the spider hauling the captured fly up to its hide-out somewhere in the window frame.
My first experience of nature in the raw captured on film...well, OK on a micro-chip, but exciting to me non the less.......
