No Wild Goose Chase - A Goose Rescue .

No apologies for more about Geese.After feeding a group of geese I went for a walk down the towpath past the Wharf.Then I spotted this goose coated in thick black sticky oil. Impossible to walk by. A helpful young man looked up the telephone number of the RSPCA and after several numbers I got through. Many details were taken and I was asked to wait and keep the bird in view etc. A call was received from the duty officer when he was 20 minutes away. On arrival he had to assess the bird.It had to be caught then taken to a sanctuary where it would be cleaned and monitored.Eventually it will be returned to this area since it is where it has a partner bird.The skill and efficiency of the RSPCA handler was excellent .I was rather cold after sitting on stone steps waiting and watching but glad it worked out well . Left without help chances are it would have died  over night . Oil seems to be the cause of many problems.Spillages and leaks to name but two.Looking at the Goose in the special jacket one could be forgiven for thinking him a Man U supporter .
