Mr. Mrs Bullfinch

BULLFINCH Pyrrhula pyrrhula.
This very beautiful but secretive bird can be seen flitting about the hedgerows and when disturbed flees showing it's distinctive white rump.

I managed to get a lovely shot of the male this morning and was sure that this would be my blip when, he was joined by the Mrs. - and so, to sacrifice a little quality for a chance to get them both together I upped the ISO to 1600 and this was the result.

We are very lucky to have this pair breeding in our garden along with many other species including....House Sparrow, Dunnock, Robin, Blackbird, Blue tit, Great tit, Coal tit, Marsh/Willow tit,Collared dove, Wood pigeon, Starling, Golfinch, and next door.... Longtailed tit, Song thrush and wait for it. Golcrest.
I have recorded 56 birds in the garden to date with many more overhead.

However, I do not photograph birds at the nest see unless I can do so from a distance without disturbance to the bird or its surroundings. Please see information regarding "Bird Photography and the Law"RSPB

I encourage birds to the garden by regular feeding from October thro' till well into the breeding season, then casual feeding for the adults when natural food is so plentyful. However, I have now got rid of the bird table and am using a feeder station with suspended foods to stop the 35 feral pigeons taking all the seed. And this year the cost of Bird foods has dropped dramatically from over £200 to about £50
