Across the Valley
I was always drawn to the paintings of John Waterhouse, A Staffordshire born painter who tended to create monotone images depicting trees, hedges, gates, and fields. They would often have a sepia tone with the classic recession of a misty day.
I'm not suggesting that this is in his class of painting but the way in which the mist separated the various layers of this image did bring him to mind. I had to work hard for this image. a long focal length was needed and I had to set the tripod low to miss the power lines that run across the valley. Even then the M54 motorway runs straight through the middle of this scene, behind the hedge line further distant than the trees.
