Flicker on the Feeder
Guess I can back blip this Northern Flicker. We've had several this past month or so and they are really interesting birds, but very shy. It's nearly impossible to sneak up on them. They were probably born and raised in the woods behind our house and call this area home, as we always have Flickers around here. There have been a family of them, 3 or 4 that were here. We hear their distinctive squawk often during the day.
I slowly open the sliding door and get the photo from there. So, not the best. This is the best photo I've ever taken of a Flicker. You should have seen me sneaking up behind the big fir tree to get this shot. And this was just a bit over 2 years ago, exactly!
