Silver Birch...

I've had a free(ish) day. I had planned to go out but events and the weather got in the way. The whole of the UK, and much of the near continent, is covered in thick fog bringing chaos to road and air travel. Ironically, where the sun has come out, the temperatures soared to 22C, the low seventies. But here it's felt cold and damp all day because it was.

So today's picture is of one of the Silver Birches in the garden. It's still changing colour. The ones that are close together have already lost their leaves. But this one is in the middle of the lawn so it doesn't get as stressed because it has no competition for resources such as sunlight and water and, thus, keeps its leaves a bit longer than the others.
