La Sagrada Familia

Barcelona Day 1
A very early start as we had a 7am flight to Barcelona. This was a trip we had planned last summer but with Mum's death it didn't happen so this felt long overdue. We are staying in an apartment in a lovely part of the city just a few stops north of Placa Catalunya and La Rambla in an area full of little squares, bars, resturants and little boutique shops.

The afternoon was spent at La Sagrada Familia, the cathedral designed by Gaudi and still in the process of being built. It was amazing and the modern interior made use of the available sunlight with the most stunning windows down both long sides of the main Basilica. The modern facade showing the Passion of Christ was completely in contrast to the original facade showing the Nativity of Christ (extra photos)
