Bowood 2015 #46 (Friday 30th October 2015)
Advancing nights (cruelly accelerated by the clock change at the weekend), reduced opening hours, wind and rain had all conspired to keep me away from Bowood in the intervening six days. I had been enjoying the liberating freedom of not blipping everyday. Although I had spent considerable time on photography-related activities, including looking and commenting on Blips, I had not taken a single picture.
Looking over the shots in the Bowood 2015 series I realised that very few featured the House or its terraced gardens, so I selected this shot to be the day's Blip. The wind and rain had taken its effect on the Bowood foliage, so resplendent the previous weekend but now with much of the autumn foliage gathered on the ground. The geese were gathered in the Event Field, much as they had been at this time last year, and I wondered what had particularly attracted them there? There were two swans on the Lake but no sign again of the cygnets. I hadn't seen them since finding them on another part of the Lake in June.
I made my way anti-clockwise around the grounds, through the pinetum and up to the smoke-trees and maples near the western perimeter of the grounds. It would be my penultimate visit of the year as the season closed in two days time.
