Living in a cave?

In many areas of France there are houses built into the rocks. This is an example, fairly sophisticated, and often on the edge of towns which people really live in. I understand that you can get mortgages on them. It must be different to Britain. Obviously the light only comes in from the front and we Brits are into light from every angle but here in Brantome and other parts of Southern France and Spain the emphasis is on keeping cool. Well there we have it! My philosophying for the day. Do what the locals do not what you do in Wales!
