Mountain Rescue Photographic Seminar
I was really lucky to be invited to join 2 friends from our Camera Club today to go to an all-day Landscape Photography Seminar entitled "Moorsview - Photographing the North Yorks Moors and Coast". This took place in Pickering, a town in North Yorkshire about a 2-hour drive each way from Newcastle. This meant an early start and a rather late arrival home (I was lucky as I wasn't driving on this occasion).
The event was a fund-raising event organised by Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team. Apparently the team was founded 50 years ago and currently attends about 50 incidents per year (50 seems a magic number as they also have about 50 volunteer members, from many walks of life).
The event was a great success and raised approximately £3,000. It was attended by about 60 photographers. Eminent speakers included David Ward, Lizzie Shepherd, Richard & Janet Burdon, Dave Mead and John Clifton. They showed some superb photos and described some of their techniques. There was also a short but fascinating talk about the geology of the area. It was a great day.
Inevitably blippertunities were limited so I thought I'd blip a photo of their Land Rover Ambulance.
