Faculty of Agriculture
The reason why I chose to study at Hokkaido University is just because it has the most beautiful campus in Japan (could be in the world), and because I wanted to live in Hokkaido. The fact that my father is originally from Hokkaido might have slightly affected me.
It was summer in 2005, when I visited Hokkaido virtually for the first time. (I am told I have visited there when I was at the age of 1 or so.) I remember clearly that Hokkaido looked a different country (though it still looks so) in terms of terrain, scenery, and wildlife. The next time I visited Hokkaido was winter in 2009. What I saw was a vast plains blanketed with deep snow. Those distinct images of Hokkaido had been imprinted in my mind for a long time.
The main building of Faculty of Agriculture is probably the finest amongst the university's buildings.
Partly because the university was founded in 1876 as Sapporo Agricultural College, the Faculty of Agriculture has an academic excellence, still carrying its tradition.
