Wave, wavelet, ripples, sand

An outing to the northshore was the treat for today.   We drove into Haleiwa town for a Kua'Aina ortega burger and to check out the new incarnation of Matsumoto's shave ice.   They've about doubled their space with a new side entrance from a greened courtyard ringed with benches.  New parking lot is behind all the stores that have filled in, selling typical tourist things to tourists.   I liked the old setup.
EXTRA  shows our shave ice:  vanilla (blue), li hing mui (red), lilikoi (yellow) with condensed milk on top.  Note how the colour syrups blend to give purple and green.   Yum!
Drove about 101 miles in all, crossed the pineapple fields in the center of the island, down to the ocean, and then followed the road home through Waimea Bay, Pupukea, Kahuku, Laie, Hauula, Ka'a'awa, Kahaluu, Kaneohe, Waimanalo, Makapu'u  and Sandy Beach.
Drove by the surf contest at Sunset Beach,  waves weren't happening like yesterday's forecasted 15-25 foot, but it was a bright, sunny day, sloppy waves.
Found that driving around, playing tourist, leaves you tired, but gave us a very different feel for the island.
