Deciduous woods in the Eifel National Park

This area of the Eifel in Germany is a forested plateau incised by twisting deep valleys now containing the Rursee reservoir. At this time of year it is a riot of colour, although the weather made sure it was softened somewhat. We had intended to go for a row on the lake. But whilst rowing a double scull involves not looking where you are going quite a lot of the time, the fog would have made it a complete impossibility.
