Uppark

I had an appointment in Havant this afternoon and so Mr DawnAgain (who has a couple of days off work) and I decided to make use of our newly-acquired National Trust membership and paid Uppark House a visit on the way there. Bizarrely, given it's less than half an hour away, neither of us had ever been there before. It's a very nice place, expertly restored after the 1989 fire. The highlights for me were the very dining table in the very dining room that a naked Lady Emma Hamilton purportedly danced upon in the 18th century, and the tunnels linking the house to the stables in which reside a family of protected pygmy shrews. We will definitely return to have a longer look and try out the restaurant.
