We are creating a 'memory matters' toolkit for GPs
East Leicestershire and Rutland Clinical Commissioning Group is launching a Memory Matters toolkit to help practices across its patch hold their own dementia awareness event. This follows the success of the Memory Matters event held at the Uppingham Surgery in August this year.
The toolkit will include a step-by-step guide for organising a Memory Matters event, ideas on how to promote the event and encourage people to attend, contacts for the key agencies that may want to support the event, evaluation forms and standard posters and flyers to use to promote it.
The Memory Matters events are one of many actions the CCG is taking to improve diagnosis and awareness of dementia and to also dispel some of the myths associated with memory loss – which is not always a symptom of dementia.
In September this year it launched the Dementia Champions Award. The Award – which is open to GP practices, voluntary organisations and patient groups in East Leicestershire and Rutland. The closing date for entries for this is 31 January 2016.
