Flowers and fruit
Today's Blip is a flower and a bunch of fruit of the so-called Chilean hazel, Gevuina avellana. A member of the protea family, it's quite hardy at Arduaine and I've never known it damaged by frost. Why is it not more commonly grown, I wonder? We have several of them.
This year we have a fine crop of fruits developing, probably due to the sunny autumn. I've found a few natural seedlings about the place too in the last few weeks - maybe our red squirrels are burying them as they're quite a way away from the parent plant.
