Guess what plant this is!
OK it is quite a tough one, so here are a couple of clues. It is endemic to Australia and it is not all that commonly found in Aussie gardens.
We have had this specimen in a large pot for 6 years and it will go into the ground next winter.
For those who know what the plant is, please also tell me what you are actually seeing in this closeup shot, other than leaves. The leaf shape is a further clue.
(This is new growth at the top of the Wollemi Pine. It is one of the world's oldest and rarest trees. Scientific name - Wollemia nobilis, Family Araucariaceae.
Its relatives are Kauri, Norfolk Island Pine, Hoop Pine, Bunya and Monkey Puzzle pines.
This rare tree was first discovered in 1994, about 200km west of Sydney in a rainforest gorge within the 500,000 hectare Wollemi National Park in the Blue Mountains. The Wild population is less than 100 mature trees.)
