Rudderless

Another photo of 'our' Blackbird. This one is rather special tho, as yesterday he had a brush with death at the paws of a local cat. You can see that he is a bit lopsided in the tail department. He left most of it on our lawn. So glad to see him, still frantically gathering mealworms for 2 more chicks - an heir and a spare. His flight is a bit erratic as he has effectively lost his rudder, poor thing. Wonder how long before the feathers grow back.
