Hospital artwork

Back to the hospital today and I noticed the art work on the walls. In A&E there were beautiful photographs taken in and around Kings Lynn. On the corridor to the wards there were large paintings like this showing something of the history of Kings Lynn. A local school had done a colourful depiction of the transition from Bishop's Lynn to King's Lynn in 1577 while this one shows some of the commercial history of what was, in the 16century, the 3rd most important port in England which resulted in fine buildings which remain today - the Guildhall, Corn Exchange and the Hanseatic League warehouse. I was intrigued by the figure on the extreme left of the picture which looks like someone being burnt at the stake but it seems it could have been this - Meanwhile, according to tradition in 1531 a woman servant was boiled to death in Kings Lynn for poisoning her mistress. (Between 1531 and 1547 in England the punishment for murder by poisoning was boiling to death). - Gruesome !
My aunt is home again now, so I will not have to go to the hospital again, but I may go back for a photo session in this historic and interesting town.
