Felling the tree

In July, a very large and very diseased branch cracked and had to be removed from this tree. Upon closer inspection, there were several large holes in the trunk and large sections were hollow. We were concerned that winter snow and ice would break the tree so decided it was better to have it taken down in a more controlled and less damaging manner. In this photo the last branches of the falling top are nearly on the ground. It was a big job!
