Woman of the Day!

Not exactly what I was expecting during today's research trip to the small Pyrenean town of Lannemezan, home to one of France's most notorious "maisons centrales" - high security prisons. The prison was the reason for the trip, but afterwards we had a rather good lunch in town, and while sipping our espressos in a café down the road, spotted this poster for a stage comedy called "Femme du joueur" - player's wife (but also a play on "femme du jour" as in "menu du jour"). An unlikely theatrical offering in this unremarkable little town, perhaps unconsciously blighted by the ominous presence of the prison on its perimeter.

At any rate, we were glad to escape it to spend the night near the wine-producing region of Gaillac, before heading off tomorrow for our rendezvous with a rather special silver wedding dinner!
