Dochgarroch Weir

A nice stroll at Dochgarroch along to the end of the narrow (here) strip of land which separates the Caledonian Canal from the river Ness flowing at a lower level. The picture is looking roughly south-west along Telford's weir. The canal is on the right and water is flowing over the weir into the Ness. It's quite a long weir and when water levels are lower you can walk quite a distance further along as most of the water goes over at the other end beyond the chevrons. By the time I got back to the locks at Dochgarroch the Jacobite Queen came through and took on a few extra passengers. Even though I must have seen the locks operate dozens of times it still holds an endless fascination for me.
