Magnolia seed pod

 These  strange looking objects are Magnolia seed pods.  This is not a great picture .........taken on my  I-phone through glass,  I must try to remember my camera tomorrow  ;-) 
These beautiful trees are in the grounds at work and I have never noticed these pods before.
