fire grass

home is where the hearth is according to my sister. As we sat toasty warm around the fire place at my mother's place, I was moved to get my camera out and see what would happen. One thing to note about photographing fire was that the focus had to be manual- I think due to using infrared in low light situations. I wanted to get sparks to create some texture; so it became a group effort. Hand held, slow shutter, and someone with a poker braving the fierce heat.
