The first cut is the deepest
Following the rains of the past week, some areas of the meadow have suffered so I thought I'd get the scythe out for the first time this year and have some rural therapy! Super to see the grasses yield in wide arcs before me. I'd forgotten just how sharp this Austrian blade is when peened and honed correctly (more on this later, maybe) - a real pleasure to use. I'll turn the grass over the next few days to dry and lose its seed. In the past, I've hoiked it over the hedge for the cows, but for the past few years, sheep have replaced them and they prefer to nibble.
