HMS Cavalier

So............... knock on the door this morning. The builders are working on the roof and wanted to know if I use the open fire. I said that I do so they asked if I'd burn some paper in the hearth in order that they could identify the correct chimney stack. This I duly did and went back to sipping tea and generally being chilled. A little later there was another knock and a further request for a smoke test so I torched some more of my junk-mail mountain. A little later I was leaving the house and shouted up to see if they'd managed to identify the chimney. Imagine my smile when I realised the cause of their problem. They are working on the stack above my front door but the hearths are all against the other wall; they are not even close to the chimney pot from which the last wisps of smoke were still issuing. The builder was a little red-faced when he confirmed that they'd finally worked that out.
