Knee News

Well, this morning I had a handsome young man telling me he thought I was very interesting...

Or, to be more precise, he thought my knees were very interesting!

He had studied the new knee X-rays before he came to see me, and he knew what I would say - that my left knee was giving me gip, so could I have a new one, please.

Wrong! (How interesting...)

It's the right knee that needs seeing too! He was most intrigued. And actually, it's good news. He thinks he might be able to do keyhole surgery, instead of a full knee replacement. He explained it all, and I was nodding enthusiastically, but I've forgotten the details. Suffice to say, he wants an MRI scan to confirm what he thinks is going on, then proceed from there. All this takes weeks, so I have to just 'grimace grin and bear it'. But fairly good news, methinks.

The knee isn't as bad as it was at the weekend - at least I can walk now. I took Archie round the block. He does enjoy a slow amble, when I don't keep telling him to hurry up. JR took him to the Links for a romp later.

I often see this car, and always stop to gaze at it fondly. A (grey) Hillman Minx was my first car, circa 1972. My pal and I answered an ad in the paper, went to view and buy it in the dark, and handed over the required £45 (£45!! Jings, I'm old) - no quibbling. But the owner knocked £5 off the price. Little did he know that we would keep turning up on his doorstep, and indeed ringing him to come and rescue us when it conked out, for the whole time we owned it. Poor man.

Those were the days!

Or were they?

Certainly, I had two working knees in those days...
