This charming man

I surprised a pair of pheasants in the garden this morning.  I haven't seen or heard the pheasants since the spring, so nice to know that they are back.

This lad is the speckled hen's chick from her first nest this year.  He was left to fend for himself when she had the current brood, and is still quite timid: most of the others bully him a bit, and he doesn't seem to realise that he's bigger than most of them now.
