Sculpture and Sculptor Origin

This is Harvey W. Scott, American pioneer, newspaper editor of The Oregonian and historian. He is bronzed, measures eleven feet tall and resides in our walking park at the top of Mt. Tabor

Origins: Sculpted in 1933, by Danish-American Gutzon Borglum. Gutzon was a child of Mormon polygamy. His training involved time at the Academie Julian in Paris where he came to know Auguste Rodin. In New York he sculpted saints and apostles for the new Cathedral of Saint John the Divine in 1901.  He died in 1941 after a large legacy of work.

Oh, this is the same guy that sculpted Mount Rushmore, 1927-1941, showcasing presidents Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Theodore Roosevelt.

Many thanks to the challenge work of Nickimags888 for this Mono Monday edition starring Origins.

The extra shows the sculpture from the back, with people for scale.
